Caffe Italiano

So today for lunch a couple of co-workers and myself decided to go out for lunch to get a break from the usual cafeteria food. We decided to try out Caffe Italiano in Hopkinton.

Appearance: It is the home of the former O'Tooles Irish Bar off South St in Hopkinton. Attached is a bank and Dunkin Dounuts. Inside is a nice little dining area full of tables and chairs, no booths here. There is also an upstairs that had there lunch buffet, but we did not check that out today.

Food: For lunch they have a buffet, which we were to early for as it started at noon, so we ordered off the lunch menu consisting of Salad's, Sandwich's, pizza and pasta's. We were started off with a fresh baked bread, and some EVOO to dip it in. The center of the bread was a little cool. We all chose sandwich's which were served with side salads with a balsamic dressing. Joe started off with a cup of chicken noodle that was a bit cool, and lacking flavor, then had the Oven Roasted Turkey and Cheddar, which he said was good, but was lacking the lettuce, tomato, and onion the menu stated it had on it, and was disappointed that it was just deli turkey. Kevin went with the Tomato, Mozzarella, and Prosciutto that h said was excellent but only after the tool it back to the kitchen to add the Prosciutto they forgot to put on. I decided on the Grilled Balsamic Marinated Chicken with grilled Vegetables, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Value: I would say the value was average. Lunch for the 3 of us came to around $30, and the Buffet was 11.95. The Sandwich's were good sized, and the side salad was small. The buffet was the most expensive thing on the lunch menu.

Service: A short wait for the hostess to seat us, but they had just opened. There was one other party dining when we got there. The waitress was pleasant. I was a bit disappointed on the meal missing the Prosciutto, that they took his meal and someone Else's in the restaurant back to the kitchen to add it, and then returned with their plates. We are guessing they each got the correct plate back.

I might some day give the buffet a shot, but not anytime soon. It was convenient being on the same street that we work.
